Thomas Jäger (German team)

Thomas Jäger, psychologist, born 1969, works as a researcher in the Centre for Educational Research (zepf) of the University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany. He has worked in the field of school bullying and violence prevention since 1997, co-ordinated the project LAPSuS - a whole-school-project on school bullying and violence – and several small community based projects. From 2000 to 2003 he coordinated the VISIONARY project in which partners from five European countries – the Germany, the UK, Portugal, Denmark and Finland - created a European Internet portal on school bullying and violence. Since 2004 he is coordinating the VISIONARIES-NET project in which an International team of partners from France, Germany, Spain and Romania will hold online conferences on school bullying and violence and extend the VISIONARY portal by three further languages.

Urban Lissmann (German team)

PD Dr. Urban Lissmann, born 20.10.1948, is a scientific employee at the Centre for Educational Research (zepf) of the University of Koblenz-Landau. He is the head of section of the competence group «education» at zepf. Among others his research interests are diagnostics, bullying, violence, and prevention. He has published a book, and articles about violence in school (1995, 1996, 1997), and an expert system software (1997) to solve teacher-student-conflicts.

André Pilatus (German team)

André Pilatus, dipl., educationalist, born 21.11.1969, is a scientific employee at the Centre for Educational Research (ZEPF) at the University of Koblenz-Landau. His fields of interest are CBT and E-learning, and he is responsible for the IT system administration at ZEPF.

In the VISIONARY project he administered the German Lotus server on which we hosted our portal and helped with the design of the international and German website. For the VISIONARIES-NET he has created the conference site and currently works on a completely revised VISIONARY portal.

Agnès Pradet (French team)

Agnes Pradet is 25 years old and since one year a project manager of the French Forum for Urban Safety, a branch of the European Forum for Urban Safety. Working with the 130 French cities members of the network, she is well sensitized for activities dealing with school bullyingand violence prevention, initiated or followed by cities in a cooperative way. Her knowledge about ICT and the use of new tools of communication like e.g Internet goes back on on a lot of interest and enthusiasm ...

Rosario Ortega Ruiz (Spanish team)

Professor Rosario Ortega is Head of Department of Education in the University of Cordoba (Spain). She is the team leader of a research group focused on bullying, school violence, social exclusion and juvenile criminality. In these subjects, she has carried out different studies directed to arise the social awareness on this problems, as well as to develop useful measures to prevent them.

During the more than 15 years she is working in this field, she has been director of two national projects (SAVE and ANDAVE) where she created a new model of intervention to prevent school bullying based on the concept of “convivencia”. She was team leader on several European Projects, including the EU-funded TMR project “Bullying and social exclusion in schools and the workplace”, and the Connect-UK project “Violence in schools”. She has given many keynote addresses on her work at international conferences and has published widely in the field of school violence. Recently, she has also been selected like expert advisor by Interamerican Bank of Development to assess and prevent violence in Center-American schools. Prof. Ortega is member of European Observatory of Violence in Schools too.

Joaquín Mora-Merchán (Spanish team)

Dr. Joaquín Mora-Merchán, psychologist, is member of the Department of  Developmental and Educational Psychology in the University of Seville, where he teachs. Since his early works, he has been interested in the study of Bullying and School Violence. During this time, he has participated in nacional (SAVE project, coordinated by Prof. Ortega) and internacional projects (TMR project: “Nature and pervention of Bullying”, coordinated by Prof. Smith) focused on this field. As result of this work,  he has published different contributions in journals and books.

Oana Mateescu (Romanian team)

Public Relations Manager, Concept Foundation

Oana has been active in the NGO field since 1998, when she joined the Open Society Foundation. She holds a BA in Communication Science and a MA in Communication and Public Relations. She took several trainings in Public Relations, Strategy Development, Program Management, Advocacy etc.
Oana has developed and coordinated several international programs and projects proving her strong communication skills in working with people with different social and cultural backgrounds. As part of her activity she was involved in a multi-annual program developed in Central and Eastern Europe, namely Art for Social Change, aiming to help teenagers confronted by violence to overcome its detrimental effects.

Gabriela Buleu (Romanian team)

Program Manager, Concept Foundation

Although her BA diploma describes her as an engineer, Gabriela somehowdoes not fit the profile! She has changed it in time, by taking an MA in Business Management and several trainings in Public Relations and Marketing. Gabriela has a good experience both in the NGO field as well as in business sector. She started her career in 1994 at the Open Society Foundation, she continued as a Marketing Manager at Dynamic Network Technologies and then she joined Equal Chances for Women Foundation, as a PR Manager where she coordinated a campaign against violence against women. Currently, she is part of CONCEPT Foundation
